Somebody is failing the global test...

And it's not Pres Bush... But the "world community" failing...

Via Instapundit

THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION HAS ENDED THE GENOCIDE IN DARFUR: Just a few weeks ago it was a massive humanitarian disaster. Then the United States condemned it, called it genocide, and threatened to act.

Result: There's really no problem in Darfur at all! It's all a fiction! The people in the camps are happy, and healthy, and grateful! Next we'll hear that it's all about oil, no doubt.
It's enough to make me want to throw a rock through my computer screen...

People will continue to die... And why? Because the "world" can't be bothered to stop it...

It's more important it seems to beat the REAL enemy (Pres Bush) than to stop genocide..

My stomach is feeling sick...

Al Qeada wants "Anyone but Bush" for president...

U.S. intelligence officials say a high-profile political assassination, triggered by the public release of a new message from Osama bin Laden, will lead off the next major al Qaeda terrorist attack, The Washington Times has learned.

The assassination plan is among new details of al Qaeda plots disclosed by U.S. officials familiar with intelligence reports who, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the killing could be carried out against a U.S. or foreign leader either in the United States or abroad.

The officials mentioned Saudi Arabia and Yemen, two nations that are working with the United States in the battle against al Qaeda, as likely locales for the opening assassination.

The planning for the attacks to follow involves "multiple targets in multiple venues" across the United States, one official said.

The new details of al Qaeda's plans were found on a laptop computer belonging to arrested al Qaeda operative Muhammad Naeem Noor Khan of Pakistan.

"We're talking about planning at the screwdriver level," one official said. "It is very detailed."
But I thought these terror warnings were mostly political... At least that's what Howard the Duck said...
Khan was arrested July 13 in Lahore, Pakistan, along with Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, a Tanzanian who was indicted in the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombings in Africa and was on the FBI's list of most-wanted terrorists.

U.S. and allied counterterrorism officials are pursuing leads on other terrorists based on the data from Khan's seized laptop. At least one arrest in Britain has been made so far, and others are expected, the officials said.
Am I the only one who thinks it's ridiculous that this information is publicly available?
Additionally, U.S. intelligence officials said they think that several al Qaeda terrorists already in the United States are part of the plot, although their identities and locations are not known.
But don't worry about it... Michael Moore, Howard Dean and his Democratic party say that it's mostly politics designed to scare us... Don't be scared... Well except of Pres Bush... Be VERY scared of him... He's turning America into Nazi Germany... Just ask any lefty, they'll tell ya...
"The goal of the next attack is twofold: to damage the U.S. economy and to undermine the U.S. election," the official said. "The view of al Qaeda is 'anybody but Bush.' "
If true this just says it all doesn't it... Who does Al Qaeda want to win? And why should we vote for their candidate again?

Abu Ghraib Hearing: No Testimony That G.I.'s Acted on Orders

In the three months since photographs of detainees in sexually humiliating
positions triggered the Abu Ghraib prison abuse scandal, the soldiers charged
with mistreatment have defended themselves by saying they were simply following

But as of the end of testimony here on Friday in a military court
hearing for Pfc. Lynndie R. England - the last, the longest and the most closely
watched of the proceedings to determine whether the seven soldiers should be
court-martialed - there have been no witnesses and no evidence to back up that
central assertion.

Witnesses, more than 25 for Private England's hearing
alone, have described a prison in chaos, where military police even ran a
prostitution and liquor ring. Soldiers often did not know who was in charge or
how they were supposed to treat detainees. Prisoners were left naked for long
periods as punishment and were at least occasionally abused, in one case leading
to a death from what investigators called trauma to the head.

Yet no one has said there were direct orders to carry out the treatment
seen in photos, or even, as Private England has told investigators, that the
military police soldiers were encouraged to "keep it up" as a way of encouraging
better interrogations.

"To my knowledge, ma'am, they were never ordered to do anything,"
Specialist Joseph M. Darby, the soldier who first turned in the photos, replied
to a question from a prosecutor here on Friday.

Witness after witness has said that the treatment in the pictures,
including forcing prisoners to masturbate and piling naked detainees in a
pyramid, would never be allowed under any stretch of the rules.
"It was wrong

- it was more than wrong," testified Specialist Matthew Wisdom, who like the
charged soldiers, is a member of the 372nd Military Police Company. "It was
absolutely wrong."

Capt. Donald Reese, the commander of the company, testified that
military intelligence soldiers conducting interrogations would ask the police
soldiers to strip detainees or deprive them of sleep. Then a prosecutor asked
him about whether there had been requests for the behavior seen in the photos:
Slapping? A dog pile of naked detainees? Forced masturbation? Taking nude

"No, ma'am," he replied grimly.

Veterans preffer Bush as CIC

Thursday August 05, 2004--A Rasmussen Reports survey shows that military veterans prefer George W. Bush over John Kerry by a 58% to 35% margin. Those with no military service favor Kerry by ten percentage points, 51% to 41%.

The potential grassroots impact of the war issue is highlighted by the fact that 48% of Americans say they know someone who is currently serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. Among these voters, Bush currently has a ten-point advantage in the poll. Fifty-four percent (54%) of veterans know someone serving in these war zones.

When it comes to perceptions of the situation in Afghanistan and Iraq, it is likely that information from family and friends has a bigger impact than news coverage.

Overall, 47% of voters believe that Bush would make a better Commander-in-Chief than John Kerry. Forty-five percent (45%) take the opposite view and say Kerry would do a better job. This closely reflects the overall voter preference in the race for the White House (on the nights of this survey, Kerry attracted 48% of the total vote to 45% for Bush).

Veterans prefer Bush as Commander-in-Chief by a 60% to 33% margin. Fifty-four percent (54%) of veterans give the President good or excellent ratings for handling the situation in Iraq. Overall, just 43% of voters give the President such positive ratings on Iraq.

"Palestinian" widow mocks widow of Paul Johnson

Just disgusting... But it gives some insight into the mindset of some... Some don't even see us as people but as "infidel dogs" who deserve only death... How do you work out a "peace process" with people indoctrinated into such hate?

'The Blood of Your Husband is the Blood of a Dog because He is an Idolatrous Infidel'

"I have heard that you appeared on television feigning innocence and wondering haughtily what was your husband's sin and what was his crime. I believe you are not ignorant of the fact that he was one of the greatest criminals indeed, although he is not considered that according to your standards, you infidels. For you call the criminal innocent and the innocent one, defending his rights – criminal. Or else, what was the purpose of your husband's work with the Apache helicopters? Have you ever believed that these helicopters hover over Afghanistan, Palestine, and Iraq to shower flowers and sweets over the heads of our children there? Or do you know that they throw on them rockets and bombs in order to turn their streets and homes into ashes upon which their corpses become coal? Is his work above reproach, then? Or was he innocent, while he worked on this kind of airplane [sic]?

"Do you know that my husband was killed before my eyes in his homeland? Do you know that those who killed him are security people trained to defend the imperialists and to frighten and kill the Muslim people of the country? When your husband was taken hostage, there was much talk and the world was shaken. However, these same people did not speak half as much when America, the so-called country of justice and liberty, has been detaining more than 600 Muslims in Cuba for the past three years. That is besides our prisoners in Iraq, Pakistan, the land of the Two Sacred Mosques [Saudi Arabia], Jordan, and other places.

"You should know that our brethren whom you detain in your prisons and our brethren whom your husband used to burn with his helicopters are not alone. Rather, there are hearts pounding with love for them, just as you have demonstrated that you have loved your slain husband. Nay, we love them more than you can imagine because the blood of a Muslim is for us more precious than the Ka'ba , but the blood of your husband is the blood of a dog because he is an idolatrous infidel."

'The Corpse of Your Husband shall be followed by Mountains of Corpses'

"Do you know that we have not done anything [yet] about the blood of Muslims and the blood of my husband that was shed for no reason. We are just getting started and the corpse of your husband shall be followed by mountains of corpses of his countrymen, until they leave the country of our Prophet, Allah's prayer and peace upon him, lowly and humiliated. How can you claim innocence for your husband, Allah's curse on him, while you have been hearing the warnings of the Mujahideen calling you to leave our country that is forbidden for you? You however shut your ears and went obstinately with your wrongdoing. This is your penalty. May you shed tears mixed with blood, just as we wept blood because of your airplanes and your troops.

"When my husband was killed you certainly were not interested, nor did you know about it; and if you had known, you probably would have been pleased that he was killed before he reached your husband and his countrymen. However, I find solace in the fact that the Mujahideen were able to reach their target with precision, and they killed your husband by slaughtering him. By Allah, on that day I rejoiced a lot because the real terrorist was killed having been gorged with the blood of our Muslim children."

'We Hate You, Infidels, and We Loathe You to the Bone'

"I don't know whether you know that we hate you, infidels, and we loathe you to the bone. How could we not, while you are given preference over us even in our own country? For a long time did one of our airplanes hover to search for your husband while he was held hostage? There was much talk – even by people who pretend to be Muslim clerics – about negotiating with the Mujahideen, in order to persuade them to set your husband free. But my husband, they prevented us from praying over him, even after his death, and they did not give us his pure body [for burial]. We rely only on Allah to [punish] those who wronged us for the purpose of pleasing your husband and his likes. None has uttered a word about my husband even though everybody knew my husband and attested to his righteousness. That was because of fear of their goddess, America.

"Tell the government, which has appointed itself over us [i.e. the Saudi government], that what they do with our youth who are engaged in Jihad is good: If you kill them, you thereby send them to heaven in the shortest way, Allah willing; and if you let them stay alive, not having overcome them, that is fine for they will fight you and will force out the infidels form the land of Islam.

(OJ trial part 2) Guantanamo bay detainee get hearing...

And vows to kill Americans... Isn't that special... (sigh)

detain vows to 'kill Americans By Tim Witcher in Cuba05aug04 AN Algerian detainee at the Guantanamo Bay US detention camp vowed before a military tribunal to "kill Americans" if he was released, officials said today. Another of the six detainees to go before special tribunals at the base where almost 600 'war on terror' suspects are held was with al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in caves in Tora Bora, Afghanistan during the war in 2001, officials said.

Yup better make sure he gets the same kind of trial as OJ complete with press access... Just because he was caught in the "war on terror" (love the scare quotes) is no reason he shouldn't have the same civil rights as Martha Stewart... Was this man read his Miranda rights? (If he wasn't that would infringe on ALL our rights.) Sigh...

The first Combatant Status Review Tribunal, which will recommend whether detainees should still be considered "enemy combatants" was held behind closed doors at Guantanamo last Friday. Six have been held so far and a seventh was under way, a defense Department spokeswoman Commander Beci Brenton told reporters here.
Ms Brenton said the 24-year-old Algerian had gone from France to Afghanistan with the help of al-Qaeda and was given training to use small arms and rocket propelled grenades at the Malik training camp.

A fine upstanding citizen if you ask me... Wouldn't be right to just assume he is an illegal combatant... He may have just been an innocent bystander who just happened to be Al Qeada trained...

The man, who like all of the detainees has not been named, was captured after he
was injured by a grenade accidentally set off by another fighter.

I usually don't like to laugh at the pain of others... But in this case...

Ms Brenton said the Algerian "stated he would kill Americans if released".

Ok now that it's funny at all... Is it wrong that I want him dead?

A 49 year-old Yemeni, who was among the four to boycott the hearings, has admitted he was with al-Qaeda leader bin Laden during the siege of the Tora Bora caves near the Afghanistan-Pakistan frontier in 2001.
"He was present in Tora Bora while Osama bin Laden was there," said Ms Brenton.
"He participated in the battle of Tora Bora and was captured with an AK-47 rifle."

Hmm to me that pretty much says it all... This war is not over... He should be held if not executed... After a military tribunal and no more... Is there some reason that this illegal combatant who wants to kill Americans should even have a CHANCE of being released? And would holding him for say the next 50 years diminish MY rights some how? I fail to see how... In fact I think doing so would increase my right to life as in "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness..."

Most of the inmates from about 40 countries at Guantanamo Bay have been held without charge or access to a lawyer for about two and a half years.
Facing international pressure over the controversial detentions and conditions at the camp, the United States started the special military tribunal hearings and preliminary hearings for four inmates who do face charges are to begin this month.

The feckless "international pressure" should be ignored much as the "international community" is ignoring the genocide in Sudan... I don't like the supreme court ruling on this... But I have SUBSTANTIALLY more respect for it than our feckless "allies" who stand by and watch genocide but can find time to condemn Israel for building a wall (Which we know is the "real" genocide right?)

Navy Secretary Gordon England is to observe a tribunal hearing at Guantanamo Bay today and representatives of the foreign and US media are to be allowed to watch hearings tomorrow and Friday. But reporters will not be able to identify the detainees and will only be allowed to listen to what the Defence Department has called "unclassified" details on individual cases.

But of course the press finds it important that this get the full OJ treatment... And the supreme court ruling makes it seem that it might even happen... Won't it be great when an idiot like this gets to spout on TeeVee to CNN about how the evil Americans made him do it through mind control rays (Or whatever Johnnie Cochran or similar will tell him to say)

Each detainee can also only review "unclassified information relating to the basis for his detention." The US Supreme Court has ruled that Guantanamo inmates have the right to take up their cases in US courts. But lawyers who say they represent some of the inmate are still complaining because they have not been given access.

Won't it be great when the trials in US courts happen... Maybe the people can then pay a billion dollars or so, so that the best lawyers available can get these "people" off... See I can use scare quotes too...

Nancy Reagan Backing Bush's Re-Election

I suspect she may have been a BIT embarrassed by Ron Jr's feckless speech at the D convention...

(AP) - Former first lady Nancy Reagan, who opposes President Bush's policy on limiting embryonic stem cell research, is backing the Republican's re-election bid.

"The campaign is certainly about more than one issue," said spokeswoman Joanne Drake, who described Reagan on Tuesday as in "full and complete support of President Bush's candidacy."

Nancy Reagan is a strong advocate of stem cell research, arguing as many scientists do that stem cells, the body's building blocks, can be used to repair organs or treat diseases such as diabetes, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

Censorship "whining"....

Great editorial in the Washington Times today by Steven Zak...

Regarding the common (only?) tactic used by the left today to shut down debate...

Claim that anyone who dissents from your opinion is stiffling your freedom of speech...

Freedom of speech and no one can comment on it or use their own freedoms to oppose you or they are stiffling YOU...

To hear liberals tell it, free speech is under siege. When crooner Linda Ronstadt imposed her unsolicited fawning views of America-basher Michael Moore on a Las Vegas audience at the Aladdin casino recently, a large portion of that audience did the principled thing: They got up and left. The management at the Aladdin asked Miss Ronstadt to do the same. These people must have been First Amendment insensitive; according to the New York Times, they interfered with
Miss Ronstadt's "right to express a political opinion."

But didn't the audience members have the right to express their opinions? And didn't the Aladdin, which was footing Miss Ronstadt's bill, have the right not to be made a forum for political discourse?

No, says Los Angeles Times media critic Tim Rutten. When the "drunken mob" at the Aladdin refused to take Miss Ronstadt's rants sitting down, the "most fundamental of liberties came under assault," he claims.

What would those be — the right not to have one's views countered by opposition? Apparently that's close to Mr. Rutten's sentiment. Notwithstanding the well-known leftist bias of the vast majority of the American media, including that of his own paper, Mr. Rutten slams Fox News merely for tending toward a contrary view. "Fox News," he raves, "is the most unapologetically biased major American news operation since the era of yellow journalism." His evidence? None offered. His reasoning? "It tilts right and Republican."

If his point is that free speech belongs exclusively to the radical left, Whoopi Goldberg would likely agree. After she was fired as spokesman for Slim Fast in the wake of her foul-mouthed
Bush-bashing at a John Kerry fund-raiser, she wailed about "freedom of expression without fear of reprisal." This, notwithstanding that nowhere does the First Amendment mention a right to speak for a company whose own view is that you don't properly represent it.

But "fear of reprisal" — read: of criticism — is everywhere among the left, including even major media players. Paul Krugman, a columnist for the New York Times, frets that after September 11 "if you were thinking of saying anything negative about the president, you had to expect right-wing pundits and publications to do all they could to ruin your reputation." CNN's Christiane Amanpour believes that the press has been "intimidated by the administration." And Dan Rather of CBS — check out this metaphor — worries about having "a flaming tire of lack of patriotism put around your neck."

Treating counterargument as a threat to freedom would be laughable if it weren't so insane. So would the whole "Bush lied" mantra, which is merely an attempt to avoid even acknowledging an opposing viewpoint. Rather than stand up and confront your opponents with reason, how much easier it is to just dismiss them as liars — or worse. Thus Al Gore calls supporters of the president Nazi brownshirts. The left-wingextremistgroup posts videos equating President Bush with Hitler. And Mr. Rutten none too subtly juxtaposes Rush Limbaugh and Depression -era pro-Nazi radio priestFatherCharles Coughlin.

Liberals apparently are tolerant enough to respect a dictator's right to fill mass graves with children. They just can't countenance anyone with contrary political views.

Read it all... Great job...
